Nalanda Shiksha is an informal collective of Indian Buddhist Sanghas. Each year since 2012, these teachings by His Holiness have been organised in Dharamsala, Bombay, Sankisa (U.P.), and we are grateful to His Holiness for his kindness in once again accepting to teach in 2016.
His Holiness will base his teachings this year on the 4th, 5th and 6th Chapters of the Bodhicaryavatara (The Way of the Bodhisattva) by Śantideva, the great Indian Buddhist Master. These three chapters in the text focus on “Bodhichitta-apramāda,” “Awareness”, Samprajanyarakșaņa, “Vigilance”, and Kşanti pāramitā, “Patience” in the cultivation of the Buddhist path.
The teachings have been scheduled over three days: June 7th to June 9th, 2016, both days included, and will be held in the Main Temple of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala. The review sessions covering the day’s teachings will be conducted after the conclusion of the teachings in the afternoon in English and Hindi by experienced and qualified teachers.
While the exact daily schedule will be sent to you as soon as it is finalised, please do note the following:
- Participants are requested to register online in the manner as suggested below in this letter.
- Please plan to reach McLeod Ganj at least by the afternoon of 6th June, as you would need to complete certain formalities related to security and identity badges. The session on the 7th will begin at 8:00 am so there will be no time for these formalities that morning.
- If you are interested in attending these teachings, kindly do your own travel and hotel bookings at the earliest. Whenever His Holiness teaches in Dharamsala, most hotels get fully booked in advance. Please take advantage of the fact that you are receiving advance notice of these teachings, before they are formally announced on His Holiness’ website.
- Registration closes on the 20th of May’16.
