Confluence, as the word itself suggests, is a meeting point for people from diverse backgrounds, converging to inculcate and exchange ideas; it is an educational project with the aim to educate and learn from each other, on topics ranging from Social & Environmental issues, Animal Rights, Psychology, Philosophy, Modern Science, Music to Art, in order to have a healthy and prosperous ‘One Global Community’.

Confluence is an initiative of the youth who have worked for Flowering Dharma Centre for the past 7 years and other student organizations of Jammu, Delhi and Chandigarh, all coming together to contribute for the cause of “One Global Community” under the support and guidance of Tibet House, Cultural Centre of H.H the Dalai Lama, Delhi, Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Regional Centre, Chandigarh, Deer Park Institute Himachal Pradesh, Panjab University and Jammu University. It is a student group that has its board members from the state of Arunachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Delhi, Manipur and other parts of India and the world including Tibet, United States, England and Singapore. In a very short span of time, it has been able to reach out to students from many regions of India including Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai and many more.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama says, “Grounding ethics in religion is no longer adequate,” and that religion alone cannot foster values such as integrity and compassion. A global system of universal ethics would be of benefit to everyone, including people who don’t follow any particular religion. The new ethics should incorporate the diverse set of values that people of various beliefs hold in common. Keeping this prime motive of building up a global system of universal ethics of His Holiness in mind, Confluence conducts programmes, such as;

  1. Public Talk by eminent speakers from different traditions
  2. Panel Discussion, inviting speakers from diverse backgrounds and areas of study.
  3. Closed Interaction Sessions
  4. Cultural Events & Performances from diverse cultures
